About the event

“You discover that the main cause of your suffering is the seed of anger in you, because it has been watered too often, by yourself and by other people.” ― Thich Nhat Hanh

"Stop Fighting It" ‘Recognize the Anger That is Keeping You Stuck' (A Yoga Nidra & Reiki Workshop)

Do you feel that anger is causing you to be stuck in your life and relationships? Does it interfere with your desires for joy, confidence, or intimacy?

Do you ignore your body's signals for anger? Stuff it down? Silence it? Deny it exists? Suppress it? Turn it inward? Distract yourself from the emotion? Allow it to escalate to aggression or violence?  Mis-direct it to the wrong person? Did you get the message from a young age that anger was not an acceptable emotion? Perhaps underneath anger are sensations of rejection, inadequacy, shame, sadness, or a fear of abandonment.

Research suggests that holding onto anger whether consciously or unconsciously will cause the physical manifestation of disease and stress-related illnesses over time.

Repressed anger can manifest in harmful behaviors. Anger is a valid emotion that requires our attention. It can help us to defend ourselves, motivate us to handle emotional pain, solve problems and understand injustice. However, many of us cannot help but use anger destructively or avoid feeling it altogether. One may never examine the root from which their anger arises, leaving them with a sensation of powerlessness.

Workshop Description:

During this workshop we will talk about the different types of anger and where or how we are not dealing with the emotion appropriately. While the practitioner is in a very relaxed state of Yoga Nidra, through visualization we will tap into how anger is presenting within the subconscious mind. In this way we can access the root of the emotion to feel, deal and heal what causes us to feel helpless, out of control or stuck in endless unhealthy cycles of anger.

In the deepest stage of Yoga Nidra, delta brainwaves are accessed where healing and restoration occur at a deep-rooted level . Here the intellectual or logical mind takes a back seat so the seed you plant in this state is very powerful and bound to come true. In this state, we will rewire belief systems in order to feel calm, less triggered and less reactive to handle anger in a more healthful manner.

During this practice Kerry will also offer short personal energy healing Reiki treatments to each practitioner to assist in releasing any energetic blocks or suppressed emotions.

Please note: There is no yoga asana in this workshop. All that is needed is for the practitioner to get comfy and listen to Kerry's voice guiding them through various stages of yoga nidra, which induce total calm within the mind and body. It is said that 30 minutes of yoga nidra is equivalent to 2-4 hours of sleep in the body.

Common Benefits to Yoga Nidra :

  • A calmer nervous system
  • The release of negative thought patterns
  • Help with insomnia, PTSD, depression, anxiety, and chronic pain.

Reiki is spiritually guided life energy known as Ki or Chi.  Ki is the non-physical energy used by healers. Chi flows through to harmonize imbalances that may be physical, mental or emotional. Using hands-on healing with light touch or above body hand placement (floating hands), this gentle, non-invasive modality can treat physical pain as well as depression, trauma, anxiety, stress, grief, and much more.
